ports and checking measures

Guangzhou, Aug. 2 (Xinhua)—The 9th Session of Guangdong-Hong Kong Cooperation Joint Conference was held in Guangzhou on Aug. 2. Guangdong Provincial Governer, Huang Huahua, and Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR, Donald Tsang led their delegations to participate in this conference and discussed details to boost the cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong during the “11th five-year plan” period. Researches and demonstrations of the widely concerned Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge got great momentum as well.

Donald Tsang said in the meeting that relevant parties had reached the consensus for the setting of entry-exit ports and checking measures for Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and consented to apply the “3 Cities 3 Checks” pattern, then agreed to entrust designing departments to carry out various researches and demonstrations for the setting of entry-exit ports and selecting of locations on the “3 Cities 3 Checks” base as soon as possible. Relevant proposals will be reported to the Central Government for approval to start the construction as long as they prove feasible.

As for issues of the entry-exit port and transport, the cooperation between Hong Kong Airport Administration and Zhuhai Airport was approved by relevant state authorities. The two parties involved will hand and take over the airport management promptly; they will open Lok Ma Chau Branch and new entry-exit port in Futian, Shenzhen along Kowloon-Canton Railway at the first half next year, further boosting some new cross-border transport service, such as cross-border helicopter and freight shuttle.
